Chapter 2 End

Clari shook her head, looking at the camara Aeleus had imbedded in his eyes. Perfect 3D vision indeed. Somebody arose from the rubble that was her garage and pulled out a small object.

“Sigh. Alfred… What are we going to do with you?” she muttered to no one in particular in her cramped communication space. Captain Dilan had finally given her permission to recruit Alfred, Sean, and Desmond. It took some time, and some strings pulled higher up, but she finally got her way. She was smug about it for a full day. Then they gave her Aeleus to get them, and she had to stay in communication.

‘And boy was I pissed at that!” Dilan almost lost his other leg to her when he told her the news that she was support for Aeleus to get her friends.

“He looks like a feral!” she had complained.

“Yes. He does,” Dilan countered. “That allows him to roam unchecked throughout the sector. You know that Clari!”

“But Alfred’s going to try and kill him! I know he will!”

“Aeleus knows how to defend himself. Plus, Alfred will probably go into shock hearing him speak,” he chuckled.

She had glared at him. “Fine! Don’t expect me to leave Communications until this is done! I’m not leaving for anything.” She stomped off to communications afterwards. And true to her word, she never left the cramped room. She turned to her attention back to Aeleus.

“Ok, Aeleus, I need to see. Turn on your night vision,” she commanded into the microphone.

“As you wish, madam,” a deep bass resounded into the headset.

The room was instantly flooded with color. Alfred was seen standing up with a pistol held out in front of him.

“If he shoots, jump back. Just in case.”

“Yes, madam. I will make the next move, though madam. Trust me on this.”

“Ok, Aeleus. I trust you. Just don’t kill him. Please?”

“Yes, madam.”

Alfred shot towards the ceiling, making a clang. Aeleus jumped back as requested. He stared at Alfred, attempting to fully identify him.

“That’s him alright Aeleus. I would know that punk from anywhere in the city,” she smiled with amusement. Alfred shot the ceiling again and Aeleus leaped forward, and landed on a pile of gadgets.

“Hey! Watch it! That’s valuable stuff Aeleus! It took months to assemble all of it!” she chastised him with horrified expression on her face.

“Terribly sorry, madam,” he responded with cool enthusiasm. Sean got up and pulled out a pistol of his own. Some words were exchanged, but they were too soft to hear.

“Now, be care—“ Clari started to say.

“Let me handle it madam,” Aeleus firmly stopped her from saying anything. He carefully started stepping over the piles of gadgets. Alfred’s eyes grew wider and wider with every step. When Aeleus was ten feet or so away from them, Alfred shouted, “Stop or I’ll put a bullet in your chest! That will kill you!”

“Typical Alfred,” Clari muttered. She started to shake her head in amusement.

Florescent green light flooded from underneath Aeleus’s eyes. He spoke with authority, raising his voice to a normal level, instead of whispering to the microphone embedded in one of his molars.

“I come in peace, Alfred and Sean.” Alfred fainted on the spot. Clari started laughing. She fell out of the chair that she was sitting in and started laughing even harder.

“Is everything alright in here?” Dilan stuck his head into the room.

“Yes… Hee hee…. Every….. Ha ha….. Thing…. Hee….. Is all….. Ah ha ah…. Right!” Clari sputtered out in between bursts of laughter. Dilan smirked and took his head out of the door, shutting it behind him.

“Sean, my name is Aeleus,” Aeleus looked at the floor. He must have bowed or something. “Could you possibly go get Desmond? Clari wants you guys.”

Sean’s eyes lit up at the sound of her name. “I’ll get right on it Aeleus, sir!” He turned around and walked to the door in the back and disappeared inside. Aeleus walked over to the fainted Alfred and picked him up as if he weighed nothing at all. Sean walked back in with a sleeping Desmond on his back.

“Clari?” Aeleus spoke quietly. Clari continued her spurt of laughter on the floor.

“CLARI!” Aeleus roared into the headset. Clari jumped in surprise.

“HOLY COMICIN! What are you trying to do!? Break my eardrums?” Clari yelled back into the mike.

“We’re coming back to base. Go tell Dilan,” he ordered.

“Affirmative. Don’t lose them out there. I need my friends,” she commanded. She turned the chair around and left through the door.

“Don’t worry. I won’t.”
